NDA Background and Organisational Structure

Nottinghamshire Dyslexia Association (NDA) started in 1971 as a Dyslexia Study Group, led by an Educational Psychology Lecturer at Nottingham University who took a practical interest in dyslexia which was rare at that time.

Since then, the organisation has grown greatly, both in the services it offers and in the geographical area it covers.

Our area now extends through the East Midlands to Derbyshire, Lincolnshire and Rutland as well as Nottinghamshire.  We offer support to dyslexics of all ages, their families, educators, employers and the wider community.

Our services include an accredited 'Information Advice and Guidance' (IAG) service, dyslexia screening and assessments and specialised courses and training.

We work in partnership with a range of organisations, including:
  • Learning and Skills Council - Nottinghamshire
  • Nottingham Adult and Community Learning Dept
  • Nottinghamshire  Adult and Community Learning Services
  • Greater Nottingham IAG Partnership
  • BEGIN
  • Individual Training Providers
  • Local School, Colleges and Universities

We seek funding to ensure that our services may be offered free to the client wherever possible.  NDA is a 'not for profit' organisation.

Our most recent Annual Report, for the year ended January 2007, is available for download using the link at the bottom of this page.  This document contains an overview of NDA's activities through the year, the audited annual accounts, and other required information.
